
The 2012's European Championship will be held in Poland & Ukraine..
The draw for the qualifying rounds was held on February 7, 2010 in Warsaw.
As usual, the whole competition is divided in two phases: the first one is a qualifying phase involving a record number of 53 teams.
The second phase is a final tournament with the 16 qualified teams.
For the first phase, nine groups were set up, with matches taking place from August 2010.
At the conclusion of the group's stage, the winning teams of each group have qualified to the 2012's European Championship in Poland & Ukraine: these are Germany, Russia, Italy, France, Netherlands, Greece, England, Denmark and Spain. Also Sweden has already qualified as the best runner-up to the final event. The remaining eight second-place teams qualified after playing two home-and-away games: Portugal, Croatia, Republic of Ireland and Czech Republic.
Co-Hosts Poland and Ukraine are automatically qualified to the 2012's European Championship.
